Was ist Honig

Honig ist der Süssstoff, welchen die Bienen aus Nektar und Honigtau bereiten. Aus dem Nektar wird von den Bienen Blütenhonig, aus dem Honigtau (den Ausscheidungen der Blattläuse) der Waldhonig produziert. In der Schweiz entsteht ca. 2/3 Waldhonig, der Rest ist Blütenhonig. Die Schweiz deckt nur rund 1/3 ihres Honigbedarfs aus der eigenen Produktion, der Rest wird importiert. Mit einem Durchschnittskonsum von 1.2 kg pro Kopf und Jahr sind die Schweizer weltweit Spitzenschleckmäuler.
